Mr. Worth T. Blackwell currently represents families, individuals and small businesses with respect to their day-to-day legal matters. Prior to that he served as “of counsel” to Englander  Fischer which is a commercial law firm located in St. Petersburg, Fl. During that time he represented the firm’s clients in the areas of taxation, corporate and securities law. He also advised and represented them with regard to various contractual activities, providing for the drafting and assistance in the negotiations of those contracts and representing them in contractual disputes. In addition, he assisted clients with the acquisition of other businesses, buy/sell agreements and mergers, as well as employment matters such as non-compete provisions and confidentiality agreements.

Prior to serving as “of counsel” to Englander  Fischer Mr. Blackwell spent more than twenty-five years in the securities industry, first as general counsel to William R. Hough & Company, a large regional investment banking firm, then as an investment banker, and finally as the Senior Vice President and national Manager of Public Finance for Raymond James & Associates, Inc.

 

Mr. Blackwell received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Washington and Lee University, his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law and an LLM (in Taxation) from the University of Florida. He is a past member of the American Bar Association and is a longstanding member of the Florida Bar Association.

Mr. Blackwell and his wife, Betsy, are lifelong residents of St. Petersburg, having attended local schools including St. Petersburg High School. The couple grew up attending the Episcopal Cathedral Church of St. Peter and eventually moved to St. Thomas Episcopal Church where he has previously served as a member of the Vestry and as the Senior Warden. They have two grown sons and four granddaughters, all of whom live in St. Petersburg.
